What is going on at GDG Kolkata

I am Anonblade.

My mission is to shine a light on issues that harm the very foundation of collaboration and trust we strive to build. Today, I feel compelled to speak about the ongoing concerns with the GDG Kolkata community.

Writing this today is especially painful for me because it concerns Kolkata—the City of Joy. Kolkata is not just a hub of rich culture, art, and innovation; it is a city deeply rooted in honesty, transparency, and fairness, values cherished by the Bengali community. It hurts me to share a story that goes against this ethos and highlights practices that stand in stark contrast to what Kolkata represents.

There’s a growing sense of unease surrounding certain actions by individuals in leadership roles—specifically Lead 1 and Lead 2. Allegations of financial mismanagement, threats, and unprofessional conduct have surfaced repeatedy, painting a picture of a fractured community where power is misused, and dissent is silenced.

For instance, during events like DevFest Kolkata 2022, 2023 and beyond, there were reports of stampede like situations, leaking personal data of 5600+ attendees, volunteer mistreatment, and questionable financial practices. Attendees and community members raised concerns, only to face blocking, threats, or outright dismissal. These actions betray the values of openness and inclusivity that a developer community should stand for.

I will slowly reveal all the details, since asking questions to them in their Telegram channel got me blocked. This isn't about creating divisions; it's about addressing systemic issues that hinder growth and trust within GDG Kolkata. I have seen this community in its glory before Lead 1 took over, and it hurts me to see it disintegrate into a scamming machine under him.

As Anonblade, my role is to amplify voices, share the truth, and advocate for a better future for all community members.
